Los Angeles Chinese Drum and Bugle Corps
Imperial Dragons 2009 Reunion
September 27, 2009
Sunday
Dear Drum Corps Members, Parents
and Staff,
On behalf of the Reunion committee, I would like to
express our thanks for making this the best reunion we have ever had.
Of the 209 confirmed reservations, we had 195 attendees. We had some
people who arrived before the “official start time” at 11:30am and there
were the die-hards that didn’t leave until after 6:00pm. One unanimous
comment was that the indoor venue was much preferred over our picnic
venues. By the multitudes of smiles and sounds of laughter throughout
the day this was a successful reunion. We thank you, again!
I would
like to acknowledge the special efforts of Marilynn Tom-Hara, Patti Mu
Quon, May Toy St. Peter, Jean Joe Matsunaga, Lenore Tom, Keri Ong Woo,
Danny Wong, Gary Fong, Tosh Ikiri for their efforts for organizing the
check-in process, donating the gifts and taking the pictures. Special
recognition, too, goes to Chuck Quon, Cliff Uyeda, Corey Mark and Gary
Fong, our website wizards, for getting the site up and running, making
it easier to disseminate the information about the reunion and sharing
all the photos and articles donated by various Corps members.
It was
great seeing so many Corps members from over the years. It struck me
that depending upon when you joined the Corps, the perspective of who
was an “old” Corps member differed from member to member. I realized
the Committee neglected to recognize the attendees who were original
members with Chung Wah Drum and Bugle Corps. To those members, Leland
Chan, Alice Wong Lee, Chester Jung, Elizabeth Jung, Jackie Quan,
Marshall Quan, and Frank Wong, I offer the Committee’s sincere
apologies.
As I
spoke with several of the founding Corps members, they offered to
correct some of the Corps history that is currently on the website.
Since the younger members have limited access to our history, input from
the founding members will be greatly appreciated. We need you, the
founding members, to help us document a complete and accurate history
for the legacy project. Thank you for offering to help with correcting
the website.
In
closing, I would like to express my personal thanks to all of you for a
successful reunion and for helping to keep the memory and history of the
Corps alive.
Yours very truly,
Greg Fong
Chair, Reunion Committee
